Echo from the European Cluster Conference 2019 in Bucharest/Romania, 14-16 May 2019

Ramon Vivanco Mugarra, International Project Coordinator and Manager of COSMENERG-4i, Mirjana Kranjac and Jacob Salom (Ecopanonia cluster), Lajos Vajda and Boglarka Vajda (Green Energy Cluster) attended the event on behalf of COSMENERG-4i ESCP. Prior to the event, Ramon Vivanco Mugarra and Mirjana Kranjac established contacts through the dedicated platform and had meetings with several Cluster organisations.

The 6th edition of the European cluster conference took place during 14-16 May 2019 in the palace of Parliament in Bucharest. The conference was organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs in cooperation with the Romanian Ministry of Economy. With its theme “Connecting ecosystems: Bridge. Inspire. Change”, the conference gathered 450 national and regional cluster policy-makers and practitioners from industry, research and academia.

A pre-conference EU cluster matchmaking event that attracted 149 clusters and generated 369 face-to-face meetings gave participants the opportunity to connect with each other. Interactive group discussions were organized throughout the three days of the conference on emerging hot topics, master digital transformation and sustainability and creating shared value. Participants could also listen to panel discussions on how to stimulate strategic interregional collaboration, and on linkages between cluster-related EU initiatives with different services of the European Commission. Following a pitching session, participants elected the new European Cluster manager of the year 2019, Bianca Muntean from the Transilvania IT cluster. The INNOSUP-1 cluster project of the year award went to <IMPACT> Connected Car represented by David Seoane from Fundingbox, the ESCP-4i of the year award was given to Adpack² represented by Lubos Komarek from Nanoprogress, and the ESCP-S3 of the year award was granted to European Automotive Cluster Network represented by Clotilde Nade from Vehicule du Futur.
